About the Course
COURSE DESCRIPTION
The RN-BSN Bridge program is a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing on-line program developed for the student who has successfully graduated from a professional nursing program and holds a current RN license. The program prepares the generalist registered nurse with a focus on leadership healthcare practice. The baccalaureate nurse generalist assumes the role of provider of direct and indirect care, designer, coordinator, and manager of care, and has membership in the profession as an advocate for clients/patients and the professions (AACN, 2008). The general education and core nursing courses build on each other and are integrated throughout the curriculum.
OBJECTIVES
Upon successful completion of the program of study, it is expected that the graduate will:
Synthesize knowledge from the humanities, sciences, and nursing as a basis for making decisions in the practice of nursing.
Provide safe, quality patient-centered care while integrating cultural competence and evidence-based practice.
Integrate knowledge and skills in informatics and patient care technology into the delivery of patient-centered care.
Examine the impact of socio-cultural, legal, economic, regulatory, and political factors influencing healthcare delivery and practice.
Demonstrate skills in leadership, quality improvement, and patient safety to provide high quality care within interprofessional teams.
Incorporate strategies to improve and promote individual, family, and population health in a variety of healthcare environments.
Demonstrate a commitment to professionalism, professional values, and lifelong learning.
